VBSNG-Sense · Multi-Source Sensor Simulation

Four sensor classes each independently physically simulated. Effects are documented per-sensor below. Media assets to be added later.

1 · Infrared FLIR

Thermal-radiation physics driven · MWIR and LWIR dual-band independent imaging

Simulation Effects

  • Engine nozzles, brake discs, vehicle engines, building solar heating — each fades by its own time constant; freshly stopped targets show clear residual heat at night
  • Water-vapor / CO₂ absorption bands integrated along line-of-sight; humid / foggy conditions visibly reduce detection range
  • Dual-band contrast differs — metallic glints, humans, vegetation grayscale matches real hardware
  • White-Hot ↔ Black-Hot toggle; gamma / electronic gain adjustable

Key Parameters

  • Bands: MWIR (3–5 μm) & LWIR (8–12 μm), independent channels
  • Resolution: 1024 × 768 (configurable)
  • FoV: NFOV 1° / MFOV 5° / WFOV 30°
  • Atmospheric Attenuation: Real physics (integrated by distance and weather)

2 · Image-Intensified NVG

Photon-counting and system MTF driven · lunar phase, starlight, city glow contribute

Simulation Effects

  • Gen II / III / IV differ in resolution, signal-to-noise, gain knee — switchable to let trainees feel the difference
  • Bright sources (deck lights, oncoming vehicle lights, radar searchlight) produce bloom and halo
  • Moon phase / altitude, starlight, cloud occlusion, urban floor glow drive overall brightness per ICAO ANV-3 levels
  • Supports head-mount overlay with reticle (HUD-on-NVG)

Key Parameters

  • Generations: Gen II / III / IV, green or white phosphor
  • FoV: 40° (monocular) / 100° (quad panoramic)
  • Illuminance Dependency: astronomical + weather + ground floor-glow combined

3 · Synthetic Aperture Radar SAR

Doppler-principle image synthesis · not a "map texture"

Simulation Effects

  • Three modes: Strip-Map / Spotlight / Ground Moving Target Indication (GMTI)
  • Front-slope brightness, back-slope shadow, layover, foreshortening — all rendered by real geometry
  • GMTI shows Doppler-displaced moving vehicles, useful for tactical situation awareness
  • All-weather: penetrates cloud, unaffected by night; switching to SAR in bad weather is a valid training drill

Key Parameters

  • Resolution: spotlight 0.3 m / strip-map 1 m
  • Swath: 5 / 10 / 25 km configurable
  • Polarization: HH / VV / dual
  • Moving-target Sensitivity: ≥ 0.5 m/s radial velocity

4 · TV-Guided EO/IR

Dual-channel pod + laser illumination · for LGB / EO-guided munitions

Simulation Effects

  • EO (color / mono) + IR (shared with FLIR) + laser rangefinder / designator, no view-switch stutter
  • Auto-lock, track-while-scan, re-acquire after lost, ground ↔ air switching
  • Laser attenuated by cloud, rain, dust; power and dwell time affect hit
  • Release envelope, CEP, terminal-guidance segment all visualized in AAR

Key Parameters

  • EO Resolution: 1920 × 1080 (HD)
  • IR Channel: shares the FLIR engine
  • Laser Power: adjustable, matches LGB Pave-Way series
  • Stabilization: gyro-stabilized + digital e-stab hybrid
